Lamont was a  very nice guy, had some classes with him.  RIP.  We have lost many of our classmates way too soon.

Monty was my best friend in California even before Page. We played Little League together at John Adams park/school. He was the best player in the league my first year and the next year, after I got my glasses and could see the ball to swing at (night games yet!), we were about the same. He spent a lot of time at my house but, strange, I don't remember ever going to his place or even knowing where it was. In years later, as we'd pass in the halls at Smedley and Valley, for some strange reason fathomable only to social psychologists studying juvenile weirdness, we didn't acknowledge each other. Why the heck was that? now all there are are old, old memories that still seem so real.

Way too young to have passed away...one of the earliest people I knew in California (1959)...can still see him pitching at Adams Elementary...

Bobbie, Thanks for posting the video with Monty.. brings back memories.  I remember his smile and what a nice and sweet guy he always was.
