The following article was found on Ancestry.com;

Ray was a SP E4 Signal Corp radioman. He was hit by shrapnel from rocket and spent months in hospitals. In field hospital they already had his death certificate filled out, just needed Drs. sig. and TOD. He lived. He was very strong and was determined to make it. He came home to California, then divorced. There were 2 sons which he received custody of. Moved to Florida, married again, had 1 son. Went to college and got his Bachelor in Art EducationFine Arts. Ray was a beautiful artist, he loved to do prints, watercolors and later became interested in making Cochina dolls to honor his Grandmother who was Native American. I still have many of them. He worked as an art teacher for a while but then decided to work for the V.A. Hospital in W. Palm Beach. He was a Health Technician for almost 20 years because he wanted to give something back to his fellow veterans, his brothers as he loved to call them. Ray served as secretary to the V.V.A. for two years also. He was a wonderful husband and father and I couldn't have found a more decent, dedicated, honest, trustworthy, loving and loyal companion. I am honored he chose me to marry and was a part of my life. I will miss him forever. - See more at: http://www.vvmf.org/Honor-Roll/2155/Raymond-Clark-Thompson#sthash.oJMZaEgh.8roJ61Qa.dpuf

The following message was sent to Ron Matthews by Patty Thompson, Ray's wife on 9/19/2011

My name is Patty Thompson, I married Ray in 1978. He graduated from Santa Ana Valley High in 1966. He passed away last year from complications of wounds received in Vietnam. I am writing to anyone I can find email addresses on to see if they remember Ray or have any stories, good or bad, concerning him. I am writing his life story. He had a terrific life and was a wonderful person to have endured what he did from the age of 19. Please let me know if you remember Ray, he's in the yearbook. Thank you for any light you can shed on his life at this time. God bless you with good health Patty

Hi Patty I didn't know Ray, but what a wonderful man he was. So sorry for your loss. My brother-in-law was in the army in Vietnam. Thoughts and prayers for your family. God Bless, Sue
